About Michael J Metts

Headshot

Born and raised in rural southern Michigan, I grew up exploring the nature around me with my younger brother Pilgrim. I remember being interested in the visual aspect of life ever since those days that I spent walking through the fields and trees. When I was around 12, I asked the photography professor at Spring Arbor University about advice on buying a camera. Learning that I would need over a hundred dollars, I decided to stick with disposable cameras for a few more years. Seven years later, I’m now studying art at Spring Arbor University and recieving counsel critiques from that same photography professor.

When I think about photography, I don’t want to reinvent the wheel, but I do want to push the boundaries. I want to give you senior pictures that are more creative, wedding pictures with more energy, and fine art photography with more passion. I don’t seek to be fully satisfied with my work, because pushing myself harder is what makes me better, and I want to pass that on to you. The better image.

I currently keep two online journals. You can find my photo journal here, and my writing can be found here.
